SAITO Yuuta (1943-) Western-style painter and modern artist. Born in Seoul, South Korea. Currently resides in Yokohama. Graduated from Kokugakuin University, and the Tokyo YMCA Design College. First chosen in competition at the 1981 Salon d'Automne. Winner of the 1982 Le Salon Mention Honorable Prize. Selected in both the 1982 and 1983 Joan Miro International Drawing Exhibition. Displayed his work at the 1991 13th Art Expo New York. Displayed his work at the 1995 4th NICAF (Pacifico Yokohama). Selected as an honorable mention in the 1997 Chernobyl Memorial Art Competition, and won the Belarus Embassy Prize. In addition, Sendai Art Annual 2004 (Sendai Mediatheque). His first solo exhibition was in 1987, at the Striped House Gallery, and since then he has exhibited at the OAG Haus in 1993, Takashimaya Nihonbashi in 1995, the Osaka Contemporary Art Center in 1997, the Yufuin Station Art Hall in 2003, the concourse of the Chiba New Town Chuo Station in 2005, as well as at the Kobe Fashion Museum Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art, Saitama(‘87), Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art(’00), etc. He has published works in places overseas like New York and Paris. His work is in the collections of the Yokosuka Prince Hotel (since 2002), the Yuuta Saito Modern Art Museum (since 2004), and the University of Hawaii (since 2014). His publications include "Almanac of Japanese Display, Commercial Environmental Design '89" (Rikuyosha) and "Almanac of Japanese Illustration '92" (Kodansha). In 2018, he published a work via the Internet for the world to see, "Imagined Landscape 1993."
