SOGO Noriyuki

SOGO Noriyuki (1947-) Woodblock print artist. Born in Ayautagun, Kagawa Prefecture. Currently resides in Kobe City. Entered Nihon University in 1966. After leaving Nihon University in 1971, he entered current Ochabi Institute and Suidobata Fine Arts Academy and tried to enter the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, but failed the examinations. In 1973, graduated from the woodblock print department of Sokei Academy of Fine Art and Design. Dislikes education and the apprenticeship system. In 1982 became a member of the Artist Friendship Association of Asia and received awards from it, and in 1987 left the association. Became a member of International Fine Arts Association in 1983, received an award from the chairperson of a Paris international art committee in 1986, received an association director’s award and other awards in 1989, and left the association in 1992. Became an associate member of Japan Print Society in 2003. Creates works with a theme of “faces.”
