SUZUKI Bunji

SUZUKI Bunji (1945-) Industrial artist (paper cutout). Born in Ibaraki Prefecture. When he was a young child, he was influenced by hearing anecdotes about Japan’s cultural masters such as Yokoyama Taikan from his father (pseudonym Eiichiji), who decorated floats for festivals. In 1975 he learned techniques for paper cutout and was delighted by the Aoki collection. Encountered the original drawings of Utagawa Hiroshige, searched for the intersection of paper cutout and woodblock prints and incorporated a style of elimination. Went overseas in 1997 for the occasion of an Exhibition of Artists Who Passionately Love Paris. First selected for the French international exhibition “Le Salon” in 1998. From 1998 to 2003, introduced paper cutout, which are part of Japanese culture, at international exhibitions in 20 countries, including countries in Europe and Asia, Argentina, Chile, Australia, and the United States. Honorary member of Associazione Culturale L'alba Gatta Roma. Became a permanent member of Le Salon in 2003.
