TOMITA Shiro (1951 - ) Japanese-style painter. Born in Ibaraki Prefecture. Graduated in technical art and industry from the Chiyoda Designer Academy in 1975. Since then, has continued his creative work with a focus in Ibaraki Prefecture. Has been selected for the Ibaraki Prefecture Exhibition every year since being first selected in 1990. In recent years, Tomita has received the Grand Prize (1997) and Incentive Award (2001, 2002). Since 1991, has also exhibited at the Shinko Bijutsu-In, receiving the Award for Best New Talent and recommendation for fellow membership in 1991, the Mr. M Award and recommendation for associate membership in 1992, the Associate Member Incentive Award in 1993, the Associate Member Effort Award and recommendation for full membership in 1994. Has also held solo exhibitions since then, developing increasingly energetic activities. In 2003, received the Shinko Bijutsu-In Shoko Prize for members for his work Ame, creating a tranquil impression combining Buddhism nestled in a forest with drenching rain. Recommended for fellow membership at the Ibaraki Prefecture Exhibition in 2006. In 2008, accepted for the 23rd National Cultural Festival “Ibaraki 2008.” In 2011, held a solo exhibition, Ita-ni Egaku.
