Eiko Tsuda: Born in 1946 in Fukuoka Prefecture, she is a kirie (paper cutting) artist. She is showcasing art to enrich people’s lives in the city she lives in, Kita-Kyushu, which has been selected as one of the cities of the future for SDGs. The theme of her art is love and peace, and she uses children as motifs in her works to emphasize her prayer for peace. She has entered works at various international exhibitions such as the Japan KIRIE Art Exhibition, the Salon de Paris Member Exhibition, the Friendship-Exhibition at the Marc Chagall National Museum of France, and the UK and Japan Festival ‘91. She entered her Buddhist-themed work, the “Light of Regeneration,” at the Kyoto 1200th Celebration Exhibition and her work expressing the figure of the Mihotoke (seeing the Buddha in person), the “Water of Life,” at the International Art Exchange Exhibition in Kyoto 1999. She was awarded The International Artist of the 21st Century Award in 2000 from the International Art Council.
