Machiko Ui born in 1938, painter. Born in Aichi. Currently lives in Setagaya, Tokyo. Since she was selected for the 32nd Shunyokai Exhibition in 1955, she continues to be part of the exhibition every year. Awarded Chubu Contribution Prize in 1957. Awarded Shunyokai Prize, Asahi Shimbun Award in 1958. After graduating from Nagoya Kinjo Gakuin University in 1961, she continues on to studying at Musashino Art University. Held a solo art exhibition at Ginza Gallery Kabutoya in 1996, another solo exhibition at Setagaya Art Museum in 1998. In 2000, her solo art exhibition was held in Midtown New York, at Artforum Gallery. Awarded A.M.S.C Spain Art Prize in 2001. In 2006, a title of ASILPA was awarded by the King of Thailand, and her Artbook was displayed at the Hermitage Shop. Her solo exhibition was held at various different places including Nagoya Meitetsu Department Store, Gallery Aya, Citizen Roman Gallery, Shinjuku Odakyu, Shinjuku Mitsukoshi, Gallery Takano, Inoue Gallery, and Russia. Awarded Principality of Monaco Honorary Award (Recommended by Paul Ambu), Awarded Spain Art Prize in 2001. Currently a member of Shunyokai, Japan Artists Association, and an honorable member of the Royal Society of British Artists.
