YAHIRO Takanori

YAHIRO Takanori (1949-) Western-style painter. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture. Born Yahiro Kenzo. Born into a family that had been chief priests of Hakata Sochinju Kushida Jinja as far back as his great grandparents’ generation. Studied painting and illustration at Kofukai Art Laboratory, Tokyo Designer Gakuin in 1969. Selected for the 39th Ohgenkai Exhibition in 1973. Recommended as a member in 1975 but left the association. Selected for the 61st Kofukai Exhibition in 1975, and was subsequently selected until the 68th exhibition. Studied under Wakabayashi Minoru and Kirinoe Sadao of Nitten. Since 1985 he has been unaffiliated, participated in many personal and group exhibitions, exhibited for public open groups, etc., and received the Medal with Purple Ribbon. He also received many awards such as international awards, commemorable exhibition of the 150 anniversary of the amity between Japan and Russia award, metropolitan assembly chairman award and special selections. Currently conducts dedication activities for shrines and temples. He is skilled at painting people, but in recent years he is active creating a “Jishinzo series” in which he substitutes reefs with himself.
